Welcome
I would like to welcome you all to this month’s newsletter. I hope everyone had a lovely summer, (or at least what we had of one!). I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Evie Woodward, Sepan Isso and Zoyah Jahangir and their families to the nursery, as well as welcoming back Olivia Jozwik and her family. We will also be saying goodbye to Daniel Rae who is leaving us soon. We wish him and his family all the best for the future.
Lending Library
As most of you are aware we have started our own lending library, which allows you to take home books from the nursery for the children to read. This is an on going project and a full list of books currently available is on our planning wall. If at any time you wish to borrow a book please feel free to speak to a member of staff. The evaluation forms that you complete afterwards helps us to assess the suitability and usefulness of each book as a nursery resource. I would like to thank those parents who have already used the library, and remind you that you can borrow them as many times as you like.
Travelling Ted
I would like to thank all those parents who have already taken Hoppy home with them and helped our Travelling Ted to be a success. I know he has had lots of fun and has so far been to a wedding, Calderglen park, Loch Lomond Shores and even been to visit one child’s new house! Again, the Travelling Ted programme is ongoing and a notice is always on the planning wall to let you know if Hoppy is available or not. A photo book of Hoppy and the children is also on our parent’s information table in the hallway for you to look at, and I am pleased to say he has proven to be very popular with the children.
Parents Meetings
The parents meetings we have had recently have proven to be very successful and we would like to thank you all for taking the time to meet with us. A questionnaire regarding the meetings is to follow and will help us to better determine your opinions of the meetings and if any changes need to be made. Again we thank you, in advance, for your support in this.
Staff Training
Below is a list of training which staff have already taken part in this year, and some future sessions, which are planned. I hope this gives you an idea of our commitment to training to help us provide a better service.
• Emergency First Aid
• Child Protection
• Speech and language Development
• Equality and Diversity
• Performance Management
• Birth-3 (Adult/child interaction)
• Curriculum for Excellence (Sept 2010)
Nursery Mobile
As I am sure most of you are aware we now have a nursery mobile phone, which we use when all the children and staff are out for walks etc. It may be useful for you to take a note of this number for any instance where you may come to collect your child and we are out. The number is 07956167210. If we know we are going to be out for the day we will let you know in advance of our return time, however we do also take the opportunity to go out as often as we can, and at all times will take our mobile phone with us for you to contact us.
Rag Bag
I have attached a letter from Sara our Rag Bag co-ordinator, regarding our recycling project.
Thank you again for your continued support,
Kind Regards,
Maureen Kelly
Nursery manager
Dear Parents,
I would like to thank all the parents who have participated in our Rag Bag scheme and given us clothes etc for recycling. We have raised a total of £63.55 so far from two collections and have used £30 to purchase a new pram set for the children to use wth our dolls. (You can see photos of the children with these below). We therefore have over £33 left to spend and would welcome any suggestions and ideas of how you think we should use this and any future money raised.
Can I also remind you that the Rag Bag scheme is an ongoing charity, so please feel free to bring in any unwanted clothes, linen etc at any time.
Thank you again for your ongoing support,
Sara Carmichael
